Investigation: Residential in Kettering, Ohio 1.12.13

(Garry, our resident dog-whisperer, and one of Ericka's four-legged children, "Boo"mer... How amazing is the "Boo" on his side! Perfect para-dog!)
Saturday night a few of our members (including myself) were invited to investigate the home of one of our fellow team members, Ericka. Over the years both herself and previous homeowners have experienced bumps & knocks, unexplainable noises, odd feelings, and other questionable activity in the home.
I met up with Ericka and two of our team members, John & Garry at her house that unusually-warm-for-January but rainy night, and we got down to business.
On the drive up, I had already started picking up a few things empathically... so I mentioned them to John, whom I was carpooling with. John and I both picked up that the energy that was in the home is shy; standoffish really. Someone who doesn't want to be in the limelight, and really isn't bothering anyone, and just wants to be left alone. Not "grouchy" by any means, but just more so quiet, respectful, and loving - and wants to be treated the same way.
The home is beautiful; two floors and a basement. From the moment I walked in the door, from an Empathic standpoint I could tell that lots of love surrounded this house. The owners and tenants over the years all loved this home, and I could feel their love as if the energy had been embedded into the walls, ceilings, and floors. Zero discomfort, whatsoever. This was a home, in my opinion, that you could snuggle on the floor in front of the fireplace and fall asleep for hours in, and just feel comfortable.
(On a related note.... Ericka, can I move in with you?)
;)

As always, first we do a general walk-through of the property. We were shown the locations where things are heard, felt, and/or seen.

With our EMF detectors in hand, we did record some very high EMF levels throughout areas of the home; mostly on the staircase & upstairs hallway in front of the bathroom.

(*EMF stands for Electromagnetic Field. Click Here to read more about EMF, EMF Hypersensitivity, and possible reactions to high levels of EMF.)

Garry (who is one of our amazing Medium's), first walked upstairs with John, while Ericka and I walked through the kitchen and downstairs into the basement.

While walking through the kitchen, I said to Ericka that I felt energy in the kitchen pretty strongly... and I said, "I can feel it in my legs.." As we walked down the stairs my knees hurt a bit - which is unusual for me, so I mentioned it out loud.

Garry immediately picks up on an older woman, approximately mid-late 70's who lived in the home around the 1940's with her husband and young son. He's shown (in his mind's eye) a picture of this family; the son is about 3 years old in the picture. The woman is short, and slightly robust in stature (respectively).

He said he feels her most in the kitchen, most likely because women 'back then' (the 1940's) spent most of their time in their kitchens. As a woman, I didn't take this as a stereotype - I agreed! The kitchen is the heart of a home, and if you are a woman who cooks for your family, and enjoys doing so, the kitchen is where we are most comfortable; so I agreed with his thought whole-heartedly, and could completely understand why her energy would be strongest in this room versus any other.
Garry picks up that this woman is exactly what we had felt on the way up - she's quiet, and very respectful of the current family who lives there. I said I had felt like she was fully aware that this was no longer her home, and just stops in every now and again to visit the place she had called home for so long - I call it a "nostalgia high."  She's passed over (not stuck here), and just visits from time to time because of her love for this house. Garry was able to validate all of this, and said he believes that to be exactly the case.
Garry goes on to say this woman won't talk about her husband; every time he would ask her about him she'd clam up. Whenever Garry would mention the husband, I would see in my mind's eye a tall, thin man with dark hair and horrible posture. I asked Garry if this is who he saw as the husband, and he confirmed enthusiastically.
I may jump around here a bit, so I apologize (Garry, John, & Ericka) if these events didn't exactly take place in this order, but here are some footnotes from the rest of the investigation...

We ventured upstairs the the second floor, where we pulled down the attic-access hatch and all four climbed the ladder and carefully walked the planks amongst the insulation, so as not to fall through to a horrible, painful, (not to mention dirty thanks to the old insulation) demise...

While up there, Garry picked up on there being writing on the wooden beams somewhere in the attic. We searched, but all we came up with was a piece of paper that explained the proper way to spin a dreidel. (Don't worry, Ericka kept it for future reference. Never know when that might come in handy...)
He felt the writing may have been on the exposed underside of the roof boards, but the roof had clearly been replaced recently, so whatever message may have been there was no longer there... (unless we may have just missed it).

John stayed upstairs and conducted a few solitary EVP sessions, while Garry and myself were down in the kitchen discussing our impressions with Ericka. Garry and I were able to pick up on several of the same things, which was incredibly validating.
Garry said that this woman told him she didn't like walking up and down the basement stairs because her knees were bad. As I stated earlier in this blog, I had mentioned to Ericka earlier in the night that in that same area and on those same stairs I had felt discomfort in my legs and particularly in my knees as I walked down those basement stairs for the first time.
I also mentioned that it felt like the oven was in the wrong place; Garry said the woman told him the oven used to be on the other side of the kitchen when the home was hers.
Garry said he heard the woman yelling the little boys name (just like any mother would when calling for her child to come inside after playing) while he was in the back yard.
He also said this woman told him she would have her husband paint the front porch every Spring, almost obsessively, (she laughed a bit about it). The front porch, indeed, had layers and layers of paint peeling from the railings where you could tell beyond the shadow of a doubt that this porch had been painted entirely too many times over the years.

While Ericka and I were standing in the kitchen chatting, Garry was out back, and John was upstairs conducting EVP sessions, I described to Ericka that I felt like the woman kind of felt like "Don't mind me!" and I put my two open-palmed hands in the air as if to demonstrate I was no trouble as I said it. Not two minutes later, Garry came back inside and joined us, and said he saw the woman right behind us in the dining room (pictured above) saying "Don't mind me!" and did the same hand-motion I had done not two minutes prior.

While we were all standing in the kitchen talking, Garry was talking about how there used to be a white table in one corner of the kitchen, and Ericka caught a "Class A" EVP in an elderly woman's voice (with tone and inflection - this wasn't just a typical EVP whisper) that said,

"... there's something else..."
... followed by a 2-3 second pause, then the word, "... good."
And immediately after, Garry starts talking about how she had embroidered her own curtains and was very proud of them. We didn't hear the voice with our own ears, it was only picked up on our equipment and discovered later... but it was clear as crystal, and really just an amazing piece of evidence. It was almost as if she was telling Garry "there's something else I want to show/tell you..." and once she showed him, she said, "good" as if she was satisfied that he had received the correct information to relay to us...

John also may have caught a few EVP's, and will be reviewing his audio evidence this week. I ran two EVP sessions of my own, and will be reviewing those this week as well.

Great investigation, guys! Onto the next! *fist bump*
